what are micro batches?
Micro batch products are made almost entirely from plants that we wildcraft and extract with patient folk methods. We offer these precious potions once a year, and hope you look forward to treating yourself with them.
Micro batches also keep us mindful of respectful harvesting practices and of our reciprocal relationship to nature. Get these much coveted products here before they're gone for the year!
how long are the products good for?
We don’t use synthetics or preservatives in our products, instead, they’re formulated with natural shelf stabilizers using organic and food-grade ingredients. For optimum results please finish your Northlore products within 6 months from the purchase date.
what's lunar infusion?
We harvest herbs during full moons when they're at peak potency, then solar infuse them in oil for the course of a moon cycle to gently extract them. Folklore suggests that the nurturing energy of the waxing moon works to further draw medicinal properties into the oil (like how the moon draws the tide), so we keep an eye on the sky and strain ours during full moons.
Syncing infusions and harvests to the lunar cycle is our nod to the ancestral, intuitive connection that we all share with plants-- and makes for potent, high-vibing goods.
what are glacier salts?
Our mineral salt crystals are locally sourced from Saskatchewan, formed by an ancient glacier sea that once spanned the Canadian Prairies.
They’ve been lab tested, proving to have exceptionally high mineral content for nourishing, exfoliating, and hydrating your skin.
why do you use tallow in soap?
We repurpose organic, grass-fed tallow because it's a sustainable soaping alternative to the environmentally harmful extraction of palm oil. The demand for palm oil in the personal care industry is causing deforestation of rainforests and staggering species loss.
Our hand-rendered tallow is a by-product of local, regenerative farming practices that would otherwise end up in landfills.
Grass-fed tallow crafts a hard, long-lasting bar with a creamy lather. It's a famous folk remedy for soothing eczema and other skin irritations due to the presence of omega 3’s and oleic acid, a fatty lipid that deeply moisturizes and protects skin.
