how long are the products good for?
We believe that your skincare should be safe enough to eat so we don’t use synthetics or preservatives. Instead, they’re formulated with natural shelf stabilizers using organic and food-grade ingredients. For optimum results please use your Northlore products within one year from the purchase date. (And please don't eat them!)
what are the micro batches all about?
Some of our products are made patiently and almost entirely from plants that we wildcraft from surrounding bioregions, so we only make them once a year. Choosing to make micro-batches of these products prevents over-harvesting and keeps us mindful of our reciprocal relationship to nature. Get these much coveted micro-batch products here before they're gone for the year.
what's lunar infusion?
We harvest our herbs during full moons when they're at their peak potency and then solar infuse them into oil over the course of a moon cycle to gently extract the medicinal properties of the plants. Folklore suggests that the nurturing energy of the waxing moon works to further draw out these properties so we keep an eye on the sky and strain the oils during full moons.
Syncing our infusions to the lunar cycle is our nod to the ancestral connection that we all share with plants-- and makes for seriously high-vibing goods.
why tallow in the soaps?
We hand render our tallow from beef fat, a by-product of local, organic, and regenerative farming practices that would otherwise end up in landfills. Tallow is a sustainable soaping alternative to the extraction of palm oil which is causing deforestation of rainforests and staggering species loss.
We repurpose grass fed tallow into hard and long-lasting soap bars with a creamy lather. Tallow is also known to soothe eczema and other skin irritations due to the presence of omega 3’s and oleic acid, a fatty lipid that deeply moisturizes and protects your skin.
what are glacier salts?
Our mineral salt crystals are sourced from Saskatchewan, formed by an ancient glacier sea that once spanned the Canadian Prairies. They’ve been lab tested and proven to have exceptionally high mineral content for nourishing, exfoliating, and hydrating your skin. They're also an ethical alternative to many over-harvested mineral salts from countries known for human rights abuses in their mining practices.
